Greenbank Preparatory School was founded in 1951, beginning in the house that is now our Day Nursery. Starting with just sixty pupils, the school quickly gained a reputation for its high standards, and by the end of the decade, there was a waiting list for new admissions.
In 1963, following the tragic early death of Karl Orsborn, Linda Orsborn continued to lead the school on her own until 1971. That year, the school transitioned to an Educational Trust, managed by a Board of Trustees.
Since its early days, Greenbank has continually grown and adapted, embracing new technologies and modern educational practices. However, the school has always maintained its traditional family ethos and commitment to good behaviour and manners.
Over the years, Greenbank has expanded its facilities, adding dedicated spaces for science, art, and music, as well as an ICT Suite, library, and an all-weather pitch for sports. From its humble beginnings, Greenbank has grown into one of the leading independent primary schools in the North West, known for its excellence and nurturing environment.
