In the Junior Department, our children continue to build on the strong foundation of literacy and numeracy established in the lower school. They explore an ever-widening curriculum that includes drama, reasoning, and more.
With specialist teachers, small class sizes, and a low student-to-staff ratio, every child is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Learning support is available to tailor the curriculum to individual needs, while a gifted and talented programme provides additional challenges for those who excel across a range of subjects.

Throughout their Junior years, children continue to develop their foreign language skills in Spanish and French. To keep motivation high, pupils work together as a class to earn the chance to enjoy a European breakfast each term. The catch? They must order their food and drinks in a foreign language!

It is in their final year, that children are selected for key roles like House Captains and School Captains, giving them the opportunity to represent their peers and make a positive impact on the school community.
In Year 6, the curriculum includes specialised preparation classes to equip children for entrance exams in the second term of their final year. Year 5 pupils are also offered the opportunity to attend exam preparation workshops during the summer holidays, providing them with valuable practice and support ahead of the new school year. Greenbank has a proud record of success, with the majority of children gaining places at their first-choice schools.
Wherever our children go after leaving Greenbank, they are united by the secure moral values and love of learning instilled during their time with us. They leave as confident, happy, and well-rounded individuals, ready to embrace the challenges ahead.
