Friends of Greenbank

What do we do?

We raise thousands of pounds each year which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the school facilities in general. Our driving force is to make each child’s experience at the school as exciting and varied as possible, giving them all great memories of their time here.

We put on a whole host of events throughout the year which are enjoyed by both parents and children and enable us to raise this money. These events include family bingo, children’s film nights, school dinner dance, the 200 club, preloved uniform sales, annual Golf Day and of course the Christmas and Summer Fairs!

From the funds raised in previous years we have been able to buy iPads, Chrome books, the outdoor classroom, the green screen and new IT equipment in the Orsborn Room along with video recording and editing equipment. The list goes on! This year we are hoping to update the iPads and are looking into the purchase of a minibus.

As you can see we are a busy group and are always pleased to welcome new members, whether they attend as a committee member, help us out with donations of prizes or skills, or just attend an event each year.

Who are we?

All parents with children at Greenbank are automatically members of Friends of Greenbank. But by offering to take a more active role as a committee member or event volunteer you are contributing to all the ‘little extras’ that make Greenbank such a special place.

Nicola Buckley is our FoG chair. She can be contacted via the school office or on the following email.

Secretary - Nicola Bucannan

Treasurer - Preethi Balasubramanian

200 Club - Nicola Buckley

We are always grateful for any support we receive! We are all busy parents and understand that time is something that is difficult to give. However, every little helps to give the children at Greenbank a wonderful community that they can be proud of.

Guiding Principles

When we meet:

The committee meets on a Tuesday evening each month in term time at the school. At the start of each year we have an annual general meeting to sign in the committee and decide on the meeting day to ensure that as many parents/guardians can attend if possible. All meetings are advertised in the school newsletters. All members have the opportunity to contribute to the agenda and discussion.

We have a WhatsApp group for members to contribute on a day to day basis, please contact the office or Claire Youel if you would like to subscribe to this.

Any parent wishing to join us at a meeting is very welcome! No invitation is necessary, please attend when you can.

Events:

Bingo night: 13th March

Golf Day: Sunday 17th May

Summer Fair:

Christmas Fair:

Dinner Dance: TBC

How can I support Friends of Greenbank?

There are a number of ways you can support:

  • Become a committee member
  • Help out at events
  • Come to events with your friends and family
  • Share your professional expertise or network
  • Donate a prize for a raffle or an event
  • Join the 200 Club

The 200 Club is a voluntary school lottery. Parents pay £1 per number and can purchase as many numbers as they wish. All numbers go into a monthly prize draw to win £25 each month or £100 at the Summer and Christmas Fairs.

We appreciate all levels of support and please understand that all support will allow us to make changes to the school that will last for a long time. You can safely volunteer in any capacity without the angst that you will have a new job for life, but with the satisfaction that you are helping out!
