Year 2

Year Two starts the transition towards more curriculum based study while keeping a good balance of wider educational topics and interests.

We continue to build on the knowledge and experiences gained in the Foundation Stage and Year One.  With carefully planned progression our children learn about basic history including some inspirational role models; they develop an understanding of the environment around them, their place in it; and the world of minibeasts that share it; they become young scientists, opening their enquiring minds to the changes in materials; they start to learn about healthy living; and they learn about some of the Earths’ resources such as water and electricity.

They become independent users of modern technology such as computers and interactive white boards.  They are encouraged to question and discuss, respecting the opinions of others while being confident in offering their own opinions.

Children make rapid progress during this time and each child is given the individual attention needed, ensuring that all reach their own potential.  By the end of Year Two we have well prepared children, especially in the core curriculum subjects who are ready for the transition into the Junior Department.
