Infant Department
In Years 1 and 2, children begin to establish their confidence in a classroom environment, through exposure to the foundations of writing and mathematical activities within a broad curriculum including Science, History, Geography, Art, R.E., DT, Music, ICT, French and P.E. / Games. Many of these are taught by subject specialists from across the school, for example French, which is again taught by our Kindergarten teacher – something which smoothes the children’s transition from Foundation Stage into KS1. Our fundamental values of politeness, respect and self-expression underlie all aspects of the children’s development.
Each of our infant classes has a dedicated full-time teaching assistant, who, along with our Learning Support department, supports the teacher in delivering a curriculum which meets the needs of each individual child.
Children in our infant department are also given the chance to take part in extra-curricular clubs, such as art, fun with food, soccer, gymnastics and speech.
