Reception
The large airy Reception classroom at Greenbank provides a stimulating environment with various learning areas within it. The children use each of these areas everyday for structured activities and purposeful play. An outdoor area dedicated to the Foundation Stage also allows a large part of the children’s learning to take place outside of the classroom.
Reception is a natural progression from the Kindergarten at Greenbank. The sound foundation established in Kindergarten, in all aspects of the curriculum, is consolidated in Reception. The children continue to work towards the early learning goals, in the six areas of learning from the Foundation Stage Curriculum, with an increased focus on numeracy and literacy in preparation for Year 1.
The Reception class benefits from the experience of both a full time teacher and teaching assistant. The children are taught music twice weekly by our specialist music teacher and also have the opportunity to use the computers in the ICT suite each week.
Reception enjoyed listening to visiting Poet David Horner share some of his own work.
